Getting ready

So, I’ve been pretty sick. I’m mostly better now. I have a lingering cough but for the most part it’s not too bad. I’m trying to get back into getting my garden ready and I really want to get back into my soap and candle making.
This week is about getting stuff ready to move the beehive to their new place. We are very excited about getting them moved.

Planning my garden

So I’ve been figuring out my garden plan. I have decided on the style and what I’m planting. We’ll be doing two 3’x3′ areas, as well as, a couple of planters and maybe a 2’x1′ area. We already have asparagus established. This is it’s third year, so hopefully it’ll produce. We also already have cilantro and dill. We have an onion still, but it has doubled and I think I need to separate it.

Here’s my list of things I’ll be planting:

  • Carrots
  • Chives
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Turnips
  • Summer Squash
  • Peas
  • Spinach
  • Radishes
  • Celery
  • Brussels Sprouts
  • Green Beans
  • Corn
  • Cantaloupe
  • Potatoes
  • Lavender
  • Marigolds
  • Kale

I know it seems like a lot. A good bit of this is to see if I can grow it. The potatoes are going in a tire stack. The lavender will be going in a container. I’ll be planting the carrots and chives together. I’ve also got some flowers that I’ll be planting around the house. This will be a lot of work but in the end it will be worth it.
